Eugene Emeralds Announce New Coaching Staff Under Jacob Heyward
This week, the Eugene Emeralds revealed their revamped coaching staff, with Jacob Heyward stepping in as the new manager. Heyward, a former outfield prospect for the San Francisco Giants, has spent the last three seasons managing the Arizona Complex League Giants.
The Emeralds' coaching lineup will see significant changes following their successful 2025 season, where they finished first in the Northwest League with an 81-51 record but fell short in the Championship Series against the Everett AquaSox. Previous manager Jeremiah Knackstedt, along with hitting coach Jared Walker and pitching coach Mario Rodriguez, will not return.
Joining Heyward are Braxton Lee as the new hitting coach and Luis Pino as the pitching coach. Lee had a brief stint in Major League Baseball with the Tampa Bay Rays, while Pino brings over a decade of professional pitching experience, including six years within the Giants organization. Heyward's transition from player to coach follows a promising minor league career, and he is now poised to lead many of the same prospects he previously managed.
